Greenville, SC– Greenville Triumph SC bolsters its back line with the signing of defender Evan Lee. Lee will join the inaugural season roster pending league and federation approval.
“Being a part of the first team is very special,” says Lee. “There are countless soccer players around the country and world and to be chosen by John and the rest of the staff to be a part of this is amazing.”
The defender comes to Greenville after spending the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the Richmond Kickers. Lee made 20 appearances for the club in 2017 while also coaching their U11 and U12 youth boys teams. During the 2018 season, Lee played a total of 289 minutes for the USL team.
“We are excited to welcome Evan Lee to Greenville Triumph SC,” said Head Coach John Harkes. “I have monitored Evan’s career at Richmond, and he has done well. Evan is a tall, strong, center back with good feet and has an ability to read the game from a deep position”.
The Toledo, Ohio native spent his collegiate career playing at Ohio Wesleyan University. He became a three-time North Atlantic Conference champion and in 2015 was named the conference Defender of the Year.
Prior to playing with the Kickers, Lee spent his 2016 rookie season with FC Cincinnati of the USL.
“To be able to build something from the ground up will be great,” says the defender. “We have no pressure from past teams to live up to. We truly are writing our own story!”
Lee joins Tyler Polak and Jake Keegan on the inaugural season roster.
