WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club is back home for their final August match this weekend, as the club welcomes Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC to the Upstate for the second and final time this season.
The team is holding steady at first in the league standings after earning three points two weeks in a row. With only eight matches left in the regular season, each match has the potential to help or hurt Greenville’s playoff seeding. Greenville will look to increase its goal differential as much as possible as in the remaining matches in its quest to host at least one match in the playoffs. They now meet Hailstorm FC for the second time this season at home, having defeated the Colorado team 2-1 already.
As Greenville pushes to extend the gap between one and two, Hailstorm is setting their sights on that sixth spot. They currently reside in eleventh place with a 6-9-8 record and 23 matches already under their belt. A testy match against Forward Madison last Saturday resulted in a 3-1 loss and three red cards for NOCO. The newly established club will have to go without Trevor Amann, Leo Folla, and Robert Cornwall in the matchup this weekend. Greenville will continue to deal with a short bench as well, as the team continues to deal with a rash of injuries that has affected the Triumph for much of the summer.
