Healthcare System to serve as official medical partner of club
Greer, S.C. (Feb. 15, 2022) – The Greenville Triumph and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System have formed a three-year partnership designed to keep the soccer team’s players healthy and on the field.
Representatives from the team and Spartanburg Regional made the announcement Tuesday at Bob Jones University.
“We are incredibly pleased and excited to announce Spartanburg Regional Health System as the new Official Medical Provider of Greenville Triumph Soccer Club,” said Triumph president Chris Lewis. “This agreement was born from strong relationships and tremendous alignment in the positive impact we each strive to make in the Upstate community. The professionalism, attention to detail and sense of caring that everyone at SRHS exhibits confirmed that the care our players will receive will be world class and that we will be in a terrific place with regard to keeping our team healthy and fit to compete.”
Under the agreement, Greenville Triumph players will have access to numerous Spartanburg Regional services, including:
- Dedicated athletic trainers
- Orthopaedic specialists and surgeons
- Primary care
- Emergency care
“Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is pleased to support the Greenville Triumph as the team continues to grow soccer in the Upstate,” said Lori McMillan, vice president of professional services at Spartanburg Regional. “Pelham Medical Center is nationally recognized for the excellent care and outstanding experience it provides patients and their families. We look forward to partnering with the team to extend that level of service to Triumph players.”
Dr. Wayne Davis will serve as the team medical provider, and Dr. John Lucas will coordinate orthopaedic specialty care.
“One of the things I enjoy most about being a doctor is learning about my patients. Those relationships help me provide them with better medical care. That’s one of the aspects that excites me about this partnership – learning about the players and helping them to maintain and improve their health, both on and off the field,” Dr. Davis said. “Players will have access not only to myself, but to other physicians, orthopaedic specialists, athletic trainers, as well as all the services provided at Pelham Medical Center. As a medical team, we are excited, and I can tell you the players are excited too.”
