Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph SC signed midfielder Aaron Walker ahead of its 2019 inaugural season, pending league and federation approval, the team has announced.
The Woodstock, Georgia, native played collegiately at Oglethorpe University for four seasons, where he led the team to its first-ever conference championship and served as team captain in 2011.
“I’m excited to bring Aaron to the Greenville Triumph from Atlanta,” said Head Coach John Harkes. “Aaron is technically clean and possesses great vision and passing range in the midfield. He’s a great pro with experience.”
After helping lead the Georgia Revolution of the NPSL to the Southeast Conference finals, Walker went to Iceland to compete with BI/Bolungarvik of Icelandic Division 1.
The midfielder then joined FC Cincinnati of the USL after participating in tryouts in December 2016 where he worked with Harkes. Following his time in Cincinnati, he played with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NPSL. In the 2018 season Walker captained the team, tallying 6 goals and 4 assists.
“I am just very humbled for the opportunity to be a part of something special from the ground up,” Walker said. “I was able to chat with Coach Harkes in Greenville, and I came away with a very good feeling about the team and the community’s support. This club has very high aspirations, and I am extremely excited to be a part of it.”
Walker described his playing style as “a technical box-to-box midfielder who enjoys bringing others into the game and leading by example on and off the field.”
Walker joins Tyler Polak, Jake Keegan, Evan Lee, Paul Clowes, Cameron Saul, Sami Guediri and Cole Seiler on the inaugural season roster.
