Greenville, SC – The Greenville Triumph return to Legacy Early College at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night for the 2nd round of the U.S. Open Cup. The team faces the Charleston Battery in the first-ever Palmetto Derby.
What to watch For
- Battle for the Palmetto State: Tomorrow’s match is the first meeting between South Carolina’s two professional clubs. Fans have begun to dub this the Palmetto Derby, the Open Cup provides the only forum for the two teams to play in a counted match.
- Old vs New: Since 1992, the Charleston Battery has been the only professional team in South Carolina until the Triumph came to the Upstate in March of 2018. The Triumph are playing in their first Open Cup while the Battery have amassed two semi-final appearances and a runner-up appearance in 2008.
